But, there are also other situations in which probiotics are useful, although more studies are still needed to support their effectiveness. Some of them are, for example, the reduction of symptoms of asthma and other allergic-based diseases, the prevention of urinary tract and genital tract infections, especially in women, the prevention and reduction of the severity of infections in newborns premature infants, the prevention of the appearance of tumors and the reduction of cholesterol levels, among others.

On the other hand, in healthy people, the consumption of probiotics has also been shown to help reduce episodes of fever and diarrhea in children and reduce the duration of colds, but not their frequency.

Probiotic bacteria survive passage through the gastrointestinal tract and implant in the colon or small intestine and help improve health by probiotic foods They contain live microorganisms that contribute to the balance of the intestinal bacterial flora and enhance the immune system.

As they are living microorganisms, the standards for the preservation of probiotic products, since many of them need a certain temperature to stay alive. For this reason, they should be kept in the refrigerator and kept between 0 and 4ºC.
